How will grounding heal you? An excellent question: I am sure that most of you don’t know about grounding or earthing.
Grounding really saved my life. I am a sensitive person who feels every energy close to me. So, the radiation coming from the electrical devices and wifi or 4 G have a strong impact on my body, especially because I suffer from Hashimoto disease, an autoimmune disorder. Treated wrong for decades has already damaged much tissue of my thyroid, a reason that I started to investigate the natural approach of healing my body.
In my story of healing myself, I came across grounding. It began with my husband needing well-functioning wifi. We got wireless wifi. I had no idea that this would have such an impact on my body and mind. My husband is a businessman and needs to be updated online; he desired a cordless telephone and wireless wifi, which makes his work easier. So we organized someone who did the setup.
On top of that, we needed to buy new smartphones because the old-fashioned ones were not supported anymore by the telecom provider.
At that time, I suffered from the second burnout and spent much time at home because I felt exhausted. Suddenly I experienced more symptoms than I already had, like pain in my arms, head, and whole body. I lost the little energy, which I tried to build up with exercise during the day. My concentration decreased. I became dizzy. Even in the forest, I had the feeling the trees were coming down towards me, and I couldn’t understand this phenomenon because I loved to be in nature.
So I started to investigate the internet and came across a movie about grounding. It has been an eye-opener for me. My memories came back to me, the way how I went as a child barefoot in the grass or the sand. Or I lied down in the grass, feeling fantastic.
I started to do it again, first, in my little garden. Every morning I took my cup of coffee and went outside barefoot, even in winter. And I started to feel good again.
From the moment I saw the movie, I began to ground my life, the bed, the computer, my feet when I sat in front of the computer, working. I looked up shoes made with leathered soles, but it has been difficult to find them nowadays. For men, they are still available, but for women, most soles are made of rubber what is really having a huge negative impact on a woman’s health, especially on her delicate hormone cycle.
I began my healing journey by changing my environment, the best decision I ever have made.
I bought the book “Earthing- The most important health discovery ever? ” The authors are Clinton Ober, Stephen T. Sinatra, and M.D. Martin Zucker to learn more about grounding. A book that I will recommend to everyone without receiving any commission.
What does earthing or grounding mean?
Earthing involves coupling our bodies to the Earth’s eternal and gentle surface energies. It means walking barefoot outside and/or sitting, working, or sleeping inside while connected to a conductive device that delivers the Earth’s natural healing energy into our bodies. It strengthens the immune system!
For more than ten years, thousands of people worldwide- men, women, children, and athletes- have incorporated Earthing into their daily routines. The results have been documented, and they are extraordinary.
What happens is that our bodies become suffused with negative-charged free electrons abundantly present on the surface of the earth.
Our bodies immediately equalize to the same electric energy level, or potential, as the Earth. ( Description is taken from the book mentioned above)
Healing benefits of grounding
Are you electron-deficient?
You are if you have a sickness, pain, and inflammation. Earth itself can remedy your deficiency and improve your health, energy, and sleep.
Observations and research indicate the following benefits from Earthing.
Grounding or earthing:
defuses the cause of inflammation and improves or eliminates the symptoms of many inflammation-related disorders.
Reduces or eliminates chronic pain.
Lowers stress and promotes calmness in the body by cooling down the nervous system and stress hormones.
Normalizes the body’s biological rhythms.
Thins blood and improves blood pressure and flow.
Relieves muscle tension and headaches.
Lessens hormonal and menstrual symptoms.
Dramatically speeds healing and helps prevent bedsores.
Reduces or eliminates jet lag.
Protects the body against potentially health disturbing environmental electromagnetic fields(EMFs).
Accelerates recovery from intense athletic activity.

Electrical conductivity exists within the matrix that functions as an immune system defense, similar to antioxidants. Grounding can restore the natural defenses of the body.
Blood measurements were taken before and after grounding to determine any red blood cell fluidity changes, which play a role in heart health. The results indicated significantly less red blood cell clumping after grounding, which is important for cardiovascular health.
Types of grounding or earthing
Grounding means to be in contact with the Earth. So there are many ways of being connected to the Earth.
One of the easiest ways to ground yourself is to walk barefoot. I did this when I began my healing journey. Whether it is on grass, sand, or even mud, touching the Earth with your bare feet is so healing.
Lying on the ground
When you lie on the ground, you get in contact with the Earth. This is easily done by lying on the grass in the Park or your garden. But also, lying in the sand at the beach is very healing. Combine it with water, and it is even better.
Submersing in water
Water is great for grounding, especially saltwater from the sea, which is a great conductor.
If you are on holiday at sea, you will feel recovered. The salt, together with water and sand, is grounding you very much. You feel more relaxed and energized.
Indoors, we very often have carpets or laminates. They prevent the Earth’s electrons from coming in contact with you because people are not grounded in their homes. These days, we have many positively charged electrons from devices like computers, telephones, television, refrigerators, and wifi. So people can’t ground and neutralize their energy anymore. It is making them sick. Many people are not aware of this.
There is a big market for grounding equipment, like local shops, Amazon, and other online shops. You can easily purchase grounding mats for working on your computer or laptop, but also sheets or blankets for your bed. You will even find grounding socks and lots of different bands and patches.

I really recommend these grounding products very much. I use a sheet and a mat already for years now, and my sleep has improved a lot. Working on my computer isn’t exhausting anymore. I feel charged with energy. For me, it has become a lifestyle, resulting in taking my sheet with me to all the places we travel. If I don’t use my sheet, I feel it directly by having problems falling asleep and staying asleep. Not being grounded causes restlessness during the night, leaving me exhausted in the morning.
Grounding brings you in contact with the Earth and finally yourself again. It can be performed inside and outside. Grounding equipment will help you to settle indoors. It is best to contact the Earth for hours during the day and at night, resulting in being grounded most of the time, which helps to prevent inflammation. As a result, you will feel more energized, having less pain, and being calmer. If you sit in the grass, listen to nature around you, and feel the contact with the Earth, you will be recharged again.

What would be your tip about during winter is not possible to walk outside barefoot?
Thank you very much for your comment! You are fortunate. You are living in the countryside in Canada. That is so beneficial to get in contact with Nature and to be able to ground. A wooden floor will not let the electrons of the Earth going through. It blocks them. That is why most people who stay lots of time indoors may have all kinds of symptoms. Combined with all the EMF exposure, people may get really sick. It is important to leave the house and go walking, especially barefoot or shoes with leather soles. In the winter, it isn’t easy to go barefoot. I did in my garden, but our winters are not that cold as it is in Canada. But for that, you could buy a grounding mat or sheet, or a band. It helps very much!
Omg I thought I was the only one who felt it when I’m cooped up in a building for a long time. Like your husband, I work a lot so I’m always on the computer whether at the office or at home but after some time, I do feel the difference like energy and aura dissipating my me and I became burned out. I usually try to find myself to jog but not on the treadmill indoors, but at the park early morning where I feel energized again and I’m very certain it might be because of nature.
Never knew that it’s called grounding and I have got to try with my shoes off. How does the grounding matt work though, are there ions inside?
Hi, Riaz, that is true! If you spend a lot of your time indoors and work with the computer, you could get all kinds of symptoms. It is good that you jog, so you are in contact with Nature, getting oxygen. But you could better buy a grounding mat for your computer. You will not feel so tired anymore. You could use it as a mouse pad or put your feet on it, without shoes, of course. 😉 The mats and sheets are woven with metal like silver or copper. Having a grounding sheet in your bed will ground you the whole night, which is very beneficial. But try first the mat. They are not expensive. Maybe you feel different then.

Hello there, I am still a bit confused about the concept of earthing. I understand the benefits like how it may improve sleep or relieving muscle tension but do you always have to be connected to a device all day long or did I miss something. Please help me with that otherwise very good and informative article, a lot of people will definitely benefit from this.
No, that is nearly impossible. But of course, if you have a grounding sheet in your bed, for example, you are grounded the whole night. And if you use a grounding mat, you are grounded when working on the computer or watching television. This is up to you, how much time you will stay grounded. Did you watch the video? It is very well explained.
Wow, Sylvie, I had no idea, but I have to admit that I still use shoes with a leather sole, because I love quality shoes, and they are very good ones. I have them years. I don’t walk actually barefoot, but it sounds like I should try it out.

Yes, Henk, I know many people have problems with leather soles, and I understand it very much! Animals are killed in a cruel way for our luxury. But I know companies are having a high norm of moral not to use cheap leather. But these shoes have their price. For me, it is worth it.! 🙂

This is so interesting! I never knew there was a word for this! I absolutely love walking in grass barefeet and I used to do it every morning at the break of dawn (yeah, no kidding!) just to feel dew-filled grass underneath my feet. It is the most amazing feeling in the world. Too bad, I can’t do that anymore because I moved to a smaller condo where I have just a balcony and no patio 🙁
I also love lying in sand but i usually cover my hair with a scarf because i hate getting sand in my hair. Do you think there are such a thing as a “grounding scarf” for hair, maybe? I would be super interested in that!

If you read the grounding book, you will see images of the blood before and after grounding. Before grounding, blood is clumping together, decreased in oxygen. After grounding, the blood flows free through our veins, carrying oxygen to all cells. It is amazing! I love to walk around barefoot in dew-filled grass. The feeling is awesome. You are so right.
If you want to ground in the house for your body and hair, you can use a bed sheet or a cushion where your head lies. Try it out, especially if you are living in an apartment, to sleep grounded. You might sleep deeper and restfully. I notice the difference every time I am not sleeping grounded. If you do purchase a sheet, please, let me know how it worked for you!:)
What a great read! I love the art of grounding but I don’t do it often enough. I need to start incorporating it back into my routine. I just moved in a house and come this fall, I plan on getting rid of my grass and planting microclover! I think this will make getting back outside and spending time in the yard barefoot or laying in the clover a lot better than just types of grass.
I am also taking a trip to the beach at the end of August and cannot WAIT to get my feet and bum in the sand haha!
Other than nature, I never knew products like bedsheets or socks existed! I’m definitely interested in those. I’ll have to talk my girlfriend into the bedsheets 😉

I don’t know the micro clover, but never use synthetical grass because you will not ground; better keep the grass and mix it with clover, a real field with wildflowers where the bees and butterflies can come. 🙂
